About the event

This is a 4-hour course intended to provide law enforcement officers with a SFST refresher. The officers will learn to recognize and interpret evidence of impaired driving, and to administer the SFST’s property. Topics of discussion will include: SFST updates/changes, introductions to drugged driving, and common defense tactics to exclude SFST’s. 

INSTRUCTOR: Deputy Kyle Beaver is a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) and SFST Instructor with the Kalkaska Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Beaver is trained in Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE), Drug Recognition Expert, and SFST instructor. Deputy Beaver is currently part of a State wide pilot program to validate the Oral Fluid Swab detection device.

Place: Building 353A Camp Grayling

Class Size: 30 student minimum, 40 student maximum.

Cost: Member Fee: $95.00, Non-Member Fee: $125.00

Prerequisites: Previously certified in SFST

Material/ Equipment: None required

This course is MCOLES approved.
