2022 Patrol Officer ORV Operators Course

This course will provide a solid understanding of the risk factors associated with UTVs and develop safe operating skills. It will also provide for the special techniques, tactics and practices (TTPs) for enhanced Officer Safety which are necessary for law enforcement and search and rescue assignments; to include using UTV for cover and concealment, machine positioning, mount and dismount, stopping suspect vehicles and approaching suspects; each day culminates in a skills exercise. Some classroom instructions, most training accomplished in the field.

Instructors: This course is instructed by three (3) of NMLETG’s most experienced and professional instructors. The lead instructor, Matt Liestenfeltz, retired from Michigan DNR Law Division. He has trained Local, State, Federal and Military law enforcement professionals throughout the country. The entire Cadre are career law enforcement officers specially qualified and trained Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) with both the knowledge and experience to instruct this course.

NMLETG TRAINING OBJECTIVE: Provide standardized world-class, safe, cost-effective and relevant training to safeguard law enforcement professionals in Michigan.

Class Size: 10 Student Minimum/Maximum

Material/Equipment: Each student must bring their agency UTV with a basic load of fuel, their safety equipment and emergency supplies. Agency duty uniform is required. Training certificate provided.

Cost: NMLETG Member Agencies: $300 per student; Non-Member Agencies: $400 per student. Tuition includes daily lunch for each student every day.
